Direct Response Marketing
Filed under: Small Business Marketing Tips
One of the biggest challenges a small business owner faces is that of marketing his products or services…
I know for me it was a pretty steep learning curve and one of the things I learned early on is that you can’t market a small business the way you would a larger corporation with a large marketing budget. These days I ask myself why any business would market itself any other way then the way I’m about to share with you…
So how do I market my businesses?
Direct response marketing.
It’s pretty simple really. Decide what it is you want form your customers and then devise a method to get it.
Every single piece of literature I send out in the mail elicits some type of response… either a call for some free samples (By sending them free sample I obtain their contact information), to take advantage of some other type of free offer or to flat out make a purchase because of a compelling offer.
The point is all of my marketing materials go out with some type of goal in mind (usually to make a sale or to obtain contact information) and that makes the mailer measurable and traceable and at the end of the day this allows me to continually improve my conversion rates and make better use of my advertising budget.
Lot’s more to come on direct marketing and advertising for small businesses.
